The Best Constituency (National) Award is given to the constituency that has shown the highest level of participation and programme quality at the national level.

The Most Improved Constituency (National) Award is given to the constituency that has shown the highest level of level of participation and programmes quality over a 2-year period at the national level. 

This year, Hong Kah North Division was awarded with the two national awards.

The annual Hong Kah North Environment Day has been a flagship programme of Hong Kah North CCC since 2002. It aims to encourage residents to adopt environmentally friendly practices. The CCC organised the 19th instalment of Hong Kah North Environment Day on 15 November 2020.

Last year, Hong Kah North Environment Day kicked-off with a three-month campaign, ‘Hong Kah North Go Green Movement’, which included these key programmes:

• The first-ever digital recycling competition to motivate residents to recycle regularly by recording their recycling efforts using the ‘STEP UP Sustainability App’, which is developed by the Public Waste Collector, ALBA W&H Smart City Pte Ltd.


• A three-day Green Job Fair that promotes career opportunities in Environmental Services for residents who are interested in the sector and whose jobs have been affected by the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.


• A series of upcycling workshops that cover repurposing old T-Shirts, turning fruit skin into detergent, and cooking using leftover ingredients.


• A dialogue, ‘Towards Sustainable Living in Hong Kah North’, was conducted on Facebook Live to reach out to more residents in the community

The ‘Go Green Movement’ attracted more than 30,000 participants and viewers both physically and digitally over 3 months.  It has also enhanced the residents’ knowledge and adoption of green and sustainable living in Hong Kah North.

Since then, the CCC has continued to organise online campaigns and competitions to encourage recycling and usage of reusable bags. A series of talks about the Singapore Green Plan and climate change were also conducted.

Hong Kah North aims to create an eco-friendly and sustainable community and inspire residents to fight climate change.
