As part of National Senior Volunteer Month (NSVM) Fiesta 2018, a grand Carnival will be held on 8 September, from 12pm - 4pm at Bishan Community Club. Featuring flea market-style booths operated by Social Service Organisation (SSO)s, the carnival seeks to raise funds, recruit volunteers and raise awareness. There will be "Smart Seniors" themed games to promote inter-generational bonding. These games are "kampung-style" with a twist of technology e.g. playing
congkak on an iPad. Also, have a chat with one of our volunteers and learn about the satisfaction of volunteering and how you can contribute. This one-day event is organised by RSVP and you can expect a lively, fun day!
About RSVP Singapore - The Organisation of Senior Volunteers
In 2012, RSVP worked with various SSO partners and led one of the first major volunteering movement for seniors to encourage them to volunteer. The movement was called Senior Volunteer Week (SVW).
In 2015, SVW was rebranded as National Senior Volunteer Month (NSVM) to highlight RSVP's goal to increase the number of senior volunteers in Singapore.
For 2018, RSVP hopes to continue to promote volunteerism among Singaporeans by working with SSO partners to create volunteering opportunities to serve the underprivileged in our society. Through this, it hopes to inculcate the spirit of giving back and encourage Singaporeans to volunteer regularly.
